Ocala Speedway
THEN THERE'S NIGHT TWO
Racing done before 10:30.
Exciting racing at times 4 wide.
Every race fan dream, especially on a bone chilling night.
High praise isn’t enough for what Bubba and the Ocala Speedway staff pulled off last night.
An all-night rain Tuesday night unfortunately would cancel races for Tuesday and abundant soggy track conditions would result in cancellation of Wednesday night's show also.
With no daytime sun, frigid temperatures for three days leading up to Thursday’s show, Bubba . Willie and Rob Platfoot Eldora Speedway track prep ace went to work trying to tame an unruly track from harsh weather conditions.
Rob in town prepping for Ocala Speedway’s Lucas Oil Late Model Series show February 4th thru 8th was eager to lend Bubba a hand and this track was more than right on in this writer’s view.
I’ve got some experience in track prep but there's no way I could have pulled off the feat these three performed.
I’m a Midwest track fan as far as track surfaces.
Tracks such as Fairbury, Davenport and Brownstown produce some of the best racing making their surfaces a drivers track.
I can’t put my finger quite on it and maybe someone can but Ocala Speedway had a different aura last night.
Always a driver’s track but last night things were different.
Better.
Now this view is from a fan and perhaps drivers may feel differently but tacky high and low grooves had competition on their toes and a few had some onset issues figuring it out.
I believe tonight will find the high side much racier now that the track has been beat up a little.
Cloudy, cold temps will still make for some perplexing times for drivers as far as deciding setups but watch for those that aren’t afraid to go high and wide and still master turns three and four to shine.
More cars are expected tonight as weather hampered travel conditions and to be honest weather played a role in both fan and car count making less than expected but the best of the best are there and Ocala Speedway is taking 2025 on a determined conquest of making a successful season produce some of the best for racers and fans and putting a 3/8’s mile /smile on everyone's faces.
